Data Screening Modules

- PIGCHECK, PEDCHECK, PIGWEED

Data screening modules are included that run separately to PIGBLUP. This gives the breeder the opppurtunity to identify any problems with the data or pedigree file, and correct these errors, before running PIGBLUP.

PIGCHECK

The PIGCHECK Program has been designed to apply a comprehensive set of error checks on the PIGBLUP data files, with the intention of flagging records that are in error. Benefits to the breeder include more certainty in their PIGBLUP run working and confidence in the value of the results knowing that valid data is passing to PIGBLUP for analysis. Version 1.9 of PIGCHECK may be used in conjunction with PIGBLUP Versions 4.00 and later only.

PEDCHECK

PEDCHECK performs various checks on the pedigree information in your data file. It can be used to identify animals which are not linked with other animals in the data file and impossible pedigrees - females becoming males, progeny older than parents (we have seen it all!).

PIGWEED

PIGWEED allows you to create a delete list file from either the error log produced by PIGCHECK or the pedigree error log from PEDCHECK. Alternatively, you can type the animal IDs you want removed from the data file into a text file.

NOTE: The PIGWEED program is provided to facilitate removal of animals with pedigree errors. However, animals with PIGCHECK errors should be corrected rather than deleted.
