The PIGBLUP system provides graphic display of genetic and environmental trends.
Genetic trends are an indication of the effectiveness of a breeding program and give valuable feedback to the user as to the direction in which the breeding program is headed.
Genetic trends are calculated as the average EBV of animals born over time.

Environmental trends reflect any changes in the environmental conditions in which the animals have performed. They also give an indication of the average production level across time. Figure 2 shows the environmental trend in average daily gain (ADG) during the same period of time as for the genetic trend.
